Get Involved: Join a KSNA Committee

The Kansas State Nurses Association (KSNA) is excited to announce a new, streamlined committee structure designed to make it easier than ever for members to get involved, make an impact, and shape the future of nursing in Kansas.

We’ve consolidated our previous committees into five main focus areas that reflect KSNA’s mission and priorities. Members are invited to join any of the following committees based on their interests and expertise:

Governance / Finance / Membership

This committee plays a vital role in ensuring the organization’s structural integrity, financial health, and membership growth. This committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending updates to bylaws, policies & procedures to support effective governance and compliance with best practices and monitors financial performance to ensure responsible stewardship of the association’s resources. This committee develops strategies to recruit, retain, and engage members, ensuring that the association continues to represent and serve members across the state.

Some basic activities of the committee include:

Bylaws

Review, interpret, send out & receive proposed amendments, make recommended amendments
After the above, submit to ANA Committee on Bylaws for alignment with ANA Bylaws

Policy and Procedure

Review for alignment with the bylaws
Make recommendations for revisions to the Board of Directors

Finance

Review, interpret, & assist with annual budget preparation
Review and monitor income and expenditures for consistency with the approved budget
Review and advise the board of expenditures

Membership

Study & evaluate matters relating to membership in the association
Develop and implement plans to accommodate membership needs for retaining and increasing membership

Programs / Events

This committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating educational and professional development opportunities that support the growth of the nursing community. This includes organizing conferences, workshops, webinars, award/recognition ceremonies, and networking events.

Develop educational materials
Plan educational programs
Encourage & stimulate research in nursing

Awards/Recognition

Seek applications for awards

Legislative / Advocacy

This committee will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and advocating for legislation and public policies that impact the nursing profession, healthcare delivery, and patient outcomes within the state.

Some basic activities of the committee include:

Study needs for legislative action
Study proposed federal, state, & local legislation for its implications for nurses, nursing, and public health
Legislative and Advocacy Conference Planning

Editorial Board

This committee is responsible for overseeing the development, review, and publication of the association’s official communication of The Kansas Nurse

Some basic activities of the committee include:

Recommend policies regarding content of The Kansas Nurse and
Oversee publication of each issue of The Kansas Nurse, including soliciting, reviewing and approving manuscripts.
